Rescue Diver Certification
Question
Ty---
Currently you need to complete the EFR and Rescue Diver Course in order to receive the Rescue Diver Certification. I am in the military and have been for 23 yrs. I have only recently been diving. I have decided that this spring/summer time frame go for the rescue cert. I currently possess a current CPR certification. Additionly, in the military, I receive Self Aid Buddy Care (SABC)training annually. This course covers how to administer first aid for cuts, fractures, shock, different lifts, how to apply tournequetes, treat for hypothermia just to name the ones that are most common. Believe it or not the course also, cover how to treat a victim for biological warfare contamination. It is desgined for the military environment as well. If I am current on both of these courses, do I still have to take the EFR class and spend money learning stuff that I am already qualified to perform? I realize I would still need to take the Rescue class of course because that is tailored to using the skills and information from EFR in a dive environment.
Please tell me what you think.

The EFR course is the recommended course, but not the only one that meets the Rescue Diver course CPR/first aid requirements. The student needs to be able to document training in CPR and in first aid (may be an integrated course like EFR or two separate courses) within the prior 24 months or within the required retraining period stipulated by the training organization, whichever is less. Check with a PADI Dive Center, Resort or Instructor if unsure whether a particular certification(s) qualifies.
